Description
Users of the public site were having difficulty locating content on the GSB website. The challenge is that the content existed on multiple servers and the existing MS IIS Search was limited to searching one server only.
Process
Establish search needs analysis.
Identify web servers with public content.
Implement a free search tool to understand the types of searching behavior on site.
Evaluate and assess search applications within budget and easy to implement and maintain.
Collaborate with engineering and web team to customize and launch search solution.
Stanford GSB Student Portal Search
Description
The new student portal would contain both web content and information from various other applications necessary to reduce the number of locations a students needed to do a search.
Process
Collaborate with engineering to identify search application functionality and establish database viewable needs.
Work closely with web team to establish information details necessary for search results. Create interaction diagrams and requirements documents to establish rules and conventions for any search experience on portal site.
